Classrooms
Kukerin Primary School classroom structure is governed by student enrolments. Due to our small numbers children are placed into multi-age classrooms. This is when there is generally more than one year level of students in each classroom.
As a result, Teachers and Principals work together to ensure each child is allocated to a class that will provide them with the greatest educational achievement.
In 2025 we will operate the following classrooms,
Junior Room – Kindergarten, Pre Primary, Year 1 and Year 2
Middle Room – Year 3 and Year 4
Senior Room – Year 5 and Year 6
Semester 1 - Kindy students attend school on Tuesday and Thursdays.
Semester 2 - Kindy students attend school on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
Active programs at Kukerin Primary School include,
MultiLit Intervention Programs
MultiLit (Making Up Lost Time in Literacy) is a research-based literacy intervention program widely used in Western Australian schools to support students struggling with reading. Programs like Language Lift, PreLit, MiniLit, and MacqLit target different age groups—from early childhood to upper primary—providing explicit, systematic instruction in phonics, reading fluency, and comprehension. Delivered by trained educators and education assistants in small groups, MultiLit has proven effective in helping students catch up to their peers. Its implementation across the state, including in regional and Aboriginal communities, has led to significant improvements in literacy outcomes.
Resilience Project
The Resilience Project is a wellbeing program delivered in schools across Australia, focusing on Gratitude, Empathy, and Mindfulness (GEM) to build mental resilience. Through engaging lessons, digital resources, and whole-school support, it helps students develop emotional literacy and improve overall wellbeing. Backed by research, the program has shown positive impacts on student mental health and school culture.
Sporting Schools
The Sporting Schools program is a national initiative supported in Western Australian schools to encourage physical activity and lifelong sport participation among students. Funded by the Australian Government, it connects schools with local sporting organisations to deliver fun, skills-based sessions across a variety of sports. Primary schools and selected secondary schools receive grants to run these programs, promoting fitness, confidence, and healthy habits.
