School Chaplain
My name is Liam Bottomly but the kids all call me Mr. B. I am the School Chaplain at Kukerin Primary School.
I grew up in Katanning and Albany, but moved back to Katanning a few years ago to pursue a Chaplaincy role with another school. I jumped on board with YouthCare, taking on Chaplaincy positions at Nyabing and Pingrup primary schools, and loved them so much I decided to take Kukerin Primary School on as well!
Over my time working in schools in various roles (getting on 10 years now!), I have realised the benefit of a more relational approach to schooling. This is what led me to Chaplaincy in the first place and is what has shaped my approach to my role. This means that most of the time you will find me in class, getting to know the students through casual and incidental interactions. Lately I have been hanging out in the Senior Room, helping get work completed and being an extra smiling face for them!
I am here to provide a positive and safe place for people to talk, whether that’s students, staff, parents/carers or community members. I am looking forward to an incredible year ahead, and I’m super keen to meet you all! Don’t be afraid to come say hello and introduce yourselves!
